Course 01Specifying chef pants
A pants order is defined by four decisions, each confirmed at quotation:
- Fabric — drawn from the documented chef-series fabric program (Course 02), matched to the coat fabric so the kit washes and ages as one set.
- Cut & closure — the waist construction and leg profile your brigade works in; confirmed on the physical sample before bulk production.
- Pocket layout — specified per role: production kitchens, bakery and prep stations carry different tools.
- Size set — graded per wearer group and quoted as one size curve, so the ratio of sizes matches your actual staff list rather than a standard carton split.
Minimums for pants are confirmed per style at quotation — they follow the fabric and construction chosen, and we state them on the quotation line for the style.
Course 02Fabrics documented for the chef series
The group's chef series is documented across a poly cotton and cotton rich fabric set: poly cotton 80/20 at 185 GSM and 65/35 at 130 GSM, cotton rich 60/40 lines including 180 GSM, a cotton rich stretch at 53% cotton / 45% polyester / 2% Elastomultiester and 160 GSM, and 100% cotton at 190 GSM. Buyers typically place pants on the more hard-working end of that set and match the blend family to the coat order, so tops and bottoms respond to the same wash routine in the same way. Which fabric is assigned to a pants style is fixed at sampling and stated on the quotation — see the fabric guide for the full tier logic.
Course 03Quantities: pants rotate faster than coats
In most brigades, pants are changed and washed at least as often as coats, and they wear out sooner at the seat, knee and hem. Program planners therefore order pants at a higher per-person ratio than coats — the rotation calculation in How Many Chef Uniforms Per Employee works through the numbers by shifts per week and laundry turnaround. Ordering pants on the same line as coats, in the same fabric family, keeps the replacement cycle synchronised: when a store reorders, the whole kit is re-specified from one quotation history.
Course 04Ordering notes
- Pants are quoted per style with fabric, size set and MOQ stated on the line — no program-wide averages.
- Custom waist, pocket or trim requirements are handled under the same OEM flow as custom coats.
- Samples run on a 7-day production lead time; outgoing orders are inspected at AQL 2.5/4.0.
